Jetsunma Jamyang Drolma
Jamyang Drolma has been recognized as the reincarnation of Freda Bedi, Sister Palmo as she was known upon being ordained, the first women to receive full bhikshuni ordination in over 1000 years back in the early 1970s on the insistent urging of HH the 16th Karmapa. This is a rare occurrence of a recognized female tulku (reincarnation of an accomplished being) and the first we know of of a Tibetan being recognized as rebirth of a Westerner, and a woman at that!
Jetsunma finished 9 years of complete Shedra training at Namdrolling in South India and has just emerged in 2015 from 7 years of retreat at Tulku Sang-Ngak Rinpoche’s retreat center in Pharping. She has since been the Vajra Master for the retreatants at this retreat center, and is on the way to complete her aspiration to complete 10 years in retreat. She commented thather enthronement creates the positive conditions for the genuine Dharma she has to share to be heard.
She is currently a student at Harvard University, and is teaching shedra and granting instructions for advanced practices at Ewam’s summer drubchod and shedra in Montana, with Tulku Sang-Ngak Rinpoche.
