Blessings: The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet

In the summer of 2005, renowned Buddhist teacher, Tsoknyi Rinpoche III, accompanied by a handful of western students, traveled to the Nangchen region in Eastern Tibet.

The purpose of the trip was to meet the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns – 3000 remarkable women who live and practice an ancient yogic tradition in nunneries and hermitages scattered across this remote, mountainous region.

Narrated by Richard Gere, the video explores the fascinating world of the nuns as seen through the eyes of the western women practitioners who are connecting with the often strange, but hauntingly familiar, world of Tibetan Buddhism.

Compelling interviews with Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo and Lama Tsultrim Allione place the practice Nangchen nuns in the context of the largely male dominated history of Buddhism in Tibet.

“Blessings” explores the roots of the nuns’ wisdom and compassion and shows how we, as ordinary human beings seeking happiness in a modern world, can find that same thread of sanity and inner strength in the everyday confusion of our lives.

The film inspires all of us….women and men…to open ourselves to the blessings of a full and authentic life.

Blessings is a luminous, inspiring, and very human account that will blow open your view of what is important in life.”

The Yogini Project has produced a subsequent epilogue White Lotus on the transmission of this Tsoknyi Nangchen Nun Lineage to Nepal through Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s diligent efforts with the Tsoknyi Nepal Nuns.

Update on Production of TYP’s International Version of Blessings

A great misfortune, the filmmakers original hard drive has had its data lost, and we are waiting for a potential yet unlikely remaking of the film from the original tapes to be able to produce these translations.  There is not a subtitle-less copy of the original film to lay our 7 subtitle files into at present.  We will update here as things progress.

Past support of this extensive project has been greatly appreciated.

Should any sponsor or organization wishes to finance the significant task of remaking the film from the original tapes, do contact us.

Practitioners around the world will be able to receive the inspiration and blessings of these incredible female practitioners through being able to access this film in languages other than English through your generosity.

WHITE LOTUS, our film including an interview with Tsoknyi Rinpoche on the progress of transmitting this rare and precious lineage from Tibet to the Tsoknyi Nepal Nuns of Chobar Hill, Nepal will be included in all Yogini Project produced international versions of this film.
