Tara Destroyer of Attachment

Arya-raga-nishudani-Tara, Tara Destroyer of Attachment (Chags pa ‘joms pa’i Sgrol ma)

Homage to her who smashes
The bodies of the enemies that imprison joy,
Illuminated by the awareness of HUNG,
Arranged within a mantra of ten syllables.

On an orange lotus and sun, from E appears Red Tara. Her right hand holds a trident at the heart, the left one, with forefinger raised, a tree with blossoms and fruit. She sits in the sativa posture. The lord of the type is Aksobya.

This is Tara Destroyer of All Attachment. Coral red, she amplifies the power of mantras and cuts negative thoughts that impede the increase of positive energy. This verse praises the activity of both her peaceful and fierce mantras. When she teaches the Dharma through the action of her speech, all afflictions are pacified. This doesn’t mean that Tara teaches and afflictions vanish on their own. It means that from their side, sentient beings respond to the teachings and put them into practice. We need to make effort to cease our afflictions and develop our good qualities.
